At the National Center for Research and Development (NCRD), we strongly believe that science and innovation are the building blocks of a sustainable future.
Founded in 2010 as part of the Higher Council for Science and Technology, which is chaired by His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, NCRD has been a leader in improving Jordan’s scientific and technological capabilities. The Center focuses on important areas like biotechnology, water, energy, food, ecosystem management, and Badia research.
Today, global environmental issues are intensifying, from biodiversity loss and pollution to climate and health crises. Political, social, and economic instability is also rising. As a result, the systems that support life are facing more pressure. This situation requires a major change in global environmental action. We need to foster collaboration and science-driven solutions to create harmony between people and nature.
Following Jordan’s national vision and under the guidance and the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein, NCRD continues to strengthen the link between scientific research and public policy. We promote the Water–Energy–Food– Ecosystem (WEFE) Nexus as a key part of sustainable development. Through our initiatives, NCRD aims to empower local communities, promote fairness and justice in environmental protection, and turn scientific knowledge into real policy change.
By connecting knowledge with action, NCRD seeks to make Jordan a model for balancing development and environmental sustainability, ensuring a prosperous and resilient future for both people and nature.
